Ethiopia's Metec and France's Alstom Sign Agreement Worth ?250 Million

The Ethiopian Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC) has recently signed an agreement with Alstom SA (ALO.FR), a French manufacturer of power equipment and trains.

ALO.FR said on Monday that it had signed a contract to supply turbines and generators for hydropower equipment to the Grand Renaissance dam in Ethiopia.

The contract, worth €250 million, includes the installation of all electromechanical equipment for the plant, including eight 375-MegaWatt turbines and eight generators for the first phase.

The contract also includes the engineering work and commissioning of the power plant. The power plant will be operated by the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation
