In a press statement after the Summit between President Al-Bashir and President Salva Kiir, Prime Minster Hailemariam expressed his satisfaction at the outcome of them meeting, called at his suggestion.
The prime Minister noted that "the summit covered all issues between the two countries: Abyei, the border and the implementation of the agreements signed between them, especially the joint cooperation agreement, including security arrangements. " He also pointed out that the agreement to give the AUHIP the responsibility to produce a framework with a specific time for implementing the agreements on the ground was a major achievement.
The Prime Minister also underlined that the two leaders has displayed keenness to implement the previously agreed agreements. Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki has also welcomed the agreement.
In a statement in Nairobi, he commended President Al-Bashir and President Kiir's talks. Kenya is the rotational chair of the AU's Peace and Security Commission, and President Kibaki said it was keen to ensure the implementation of the roadmap for peace between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan.
