At his first meeting with the finance officials, Finance Minister Al-Morsi Al-Sayed Hegazi said on Monday 7/1/2013 that he is keen to develop all State financial systems.

At the same meeting, the finance ministry agreed to open the door for taxi drivers to join the plain-white taxi project as of mid March after the project was closed for new applications for nearly a year due to the situation in the country.

The program encourages owners of decades-old black taxis to exchange them with newer, more efficient white ones against steep discounts.

White cabs all have air condition and electronic meters with contemporary pricing, allowing locals to ride without having to bargain for their transportation fares.
