Egypt: Nation Celebrates Christmas

President Mohamed Morsi greeted on Monday 7/1/2013 the Evangelical and Armenian Orthodox churches on Coptic Christmas.

Morsi sent presidential secretary Karim el-Diwani to the Evangelical church and Major General Nabil Abdel-Latif el-Ashri to the Armenian Orthodox church to convey his best wishes on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese received Prime Minister Hisham Qandil at the Coptic Cathedral in Abbassiya.

Following the meeting, Pope Tawadros expressed his appreciation of the prime minister's visit.

For his part, Qandil hailed the pope's speech at the Christmas Eve Mass and regretted that he could not attend the gathering in person.
