Ethiopia: New Delhi Sign a Twinning Agreement

Kuma Demeksa, mayor of Addis Abeba and the Mayor of New Delhi, Meera Aggarwal, signed a twinning agreement to establish sister city relationships between Addis Abeba and New Delhi last week. The agreement was signed in New Delhi during a visit by Kuma.

The agreement will enable the two cities to exchange experiences in park management, in the development of small and micro enterprises, and in health and municipal services. The New Delhi city administration will do everything possible to implement the agreement and will work towards strengthening relations between the two cities, said Aggarwal at the signing ceremony.

The combined investment capital of Ethiopia and India has reached five billion dollars in 2011, up from 300 million dollars six years ago. Close to 400 Indian companies are currently working on information communications technology (ICT), leather and leather products, miming, textile and agriculture in Ethiopia.
