Nigeria: NTDC, Orbit Tech Begin Biometric Registration of Hotel Staff

The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation's campaign for security consciousness in hotels and other hospitality outfits nationwide begins today in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the corporation yesterday, a formal agreement on biometric registration of hotels and other hospitality outfits would be signed between the corporation, stakeholders in the hotel industry and Orbit Technologies and Investment Limited at a ceremony scheduled to take place at the NTDC Headquarters in Abuja.

Described as first of its kind in the hospitality industry in West Africa, the Director -General of the NTDC, Otunba Runsewe, said in the statement that security of hotel operation was a priority to the corporation.

He said when operational, biometric registration of workers would help in detecting fraudulent staff who may be changing jobs within the industry.

"It is also to protect the investment of hoteliers who could fall victims of dubious employees," Otunba Runsewe stressed.

Hoteliers nationwide have been sensitised to the biometric registration of their workers with all of them lending an overwhelming support to its introduction.
