Angola: Government Pays Tribute to Artists, Cultural Agents

Mbanza-Kongo — Over ten artists and cultural agents were honoured Tuesday in northern Zaire province by the local government officials, in recognition of their contribution in promotion of socio-cultural values in the region.

The artists and cultural agents received certificates of merit, during a ceremony witnessed by the deputy governor of Zaire province for political and social sector, Rogério Eduardo Zabila, in representation of the provincial governor, José Joanes André.

In their message, the local artists and cultural agents highlighted the daily plight they face.

The message decried the lack of a recording and shooting studio as well as facilities for the operation of the National Union of Artists and composers.

The event marks the celebration of National Culture Day on January 8.
