Gambia: Moys Appoints New Desk Officer for Wrestling

The Ministry of Youths and Sports has appointed Abdoulie Bajang alias Ablo as the new desk officer for wrestling at the National Sports Council. The appointment took effect from 1st January 2013.

Confirming his appointment to Observer sports Tuesday, Bojang, thanked the Ministry for his new Portfolio adding that amongst his task would be to work closely with the Gambia Wrestling Association to promote wrestling in the country adding that all hands must be on deck to promote the development of wrestling throughout the country.

He stated that the Gambia Wrestling Association is doing a lot in the area of wrestling and that all what they need is support from all stakeholders to revive wrestling which is the country's traditional sport. He also said that this is the first time the Ministry is creating a desk officer for wrestling, which he described as a positive move in the right direction.

Bojang disclosed that plans are underway for the Ministry of Youths and Sports and the Gambia Wrestling Association to embark on a nationwide tour to meet all the regional wrestling committees in February 2013, in an effort to discuss with the regions on the way forward about how to develop wrestling in their respective regions.
