Kenya: State Urged to Resolve Nurses Strike

Mwingi District Hospital is one the institutions that is bearing the brunt of the ongoing nurses' strike.

Speaking at the hospital yesterday, patients asked the government to intervene and put an end to their suffering.

Muyaka Kaswii, who has been at the hospital for the last several months after sustaining injuries from being gored by a bull, said he has seen patients die as a result of the strike.

"We get to see a nurse once a day and only in the evening so if someone has complications, they are left on their own. Even when the nurse comes, she is overwhelmed and we do not receive the care we need," he said.
