South Africa: MEC Hope Papo Brought Smiles to Schools in Eersterus

In an effort to ensure readiness for the year 2013, Gauteng Health MEC, Hope Papo visited three schools in Eersterus this morning.

This initiative, Bana Pele (Putting Children First), by Gauteng government aims to motivate learners to excel in their studies and to improve access to education in disadvantaged communities.

During his visit at Nantes Primary school, he brightened up 50 underprivileged learner's first day of school by providing brand new uniforms.

The learners at the school were also provided with dignity packs which consist of toiletries.

At this school as well as PS Fourie Primary and Eersterus High School, the MEC met with management who shared with him their successes as well as challenges they face.

During his talks at the different schools, he encouraged the pupils, teachers and parents to continue working together to ensure that better results are produced next year.

MEC Papo planted a tree in each of the schools that he visited.
