Gambia: NAYCONF Ends

The National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) finally ended last evening in Bansang, Central River Region, after eight days of intensive interaction among youths from all over the country and beyond.

It was an event that availed the youths the opportunity to come together and discuss issues affecting their lives and put forward tangible resolutions that can provide technical solutions, which is part of government's relentless efforts for youth empowerment and development. It was also an important moment as it provided a rare platform for positive dialogue among the youths of this country to discuss youth matters.

It further provided the young people an opportunity to expose their talents on diverse issues, ranging from sports to the arts, academics, etc.

There is therefore no doubt that organising this biennial youth conference and festival together with other youth programmes in the country elucidates the fact that government is sparing no efforts to empower the youths in its drive for development.

We hope that those who were privileged to attend the event took ownership of the occasion by exchanging ideas and making strategic decisions for their future. We also hope that the resolutions that came out of the event will be implemented to the letter for the benefit of the youths and the country in general.

We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the National Organising Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the host region of Central River Region and all participants for actively and effectively participating in the event.
