Gambia: Big Smile Project Donates to Essau SSS

Big Smile Project, a local non-governmental organisation based in The Gambia, recently donated books to Essau Senior Secondary School, at a presentation ceremony held at the school.

The items include: Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology textbooks. The donation was made possible through the support of Saidou Saine, a native of Barra, and his wife Diana based in the United Kingdom.

Handing over the books, Hamadi Sowe, the secretary general of the local NGO, expressed delight at presenting the textbooks to the school and thanked the couple in the UK for their support and generosity. He urged the students to make best use of the learning materials, noting that they will continue to support the school.

Receiving the books, David MS Gomez, the principal of the school, thanked the organisation for the gesture, while describing it as laudable. He said this is not the first time Big Smile Project is donating to the school.

The textbooks, Gomez continued, would contribute immensely in the quality teaching of science, and in boosting the moral of the school. He assured the donors that the books would be used as intended.
