Nigeria: Driver Killed By LASTMA Officials Buried

Lagos — THE remains of 54 year old commercial bus driver Isaac Popoola, allegedly killed by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, at Brown Bus- stop in Oshodi area of Lagos, was yesterday buried amid lamentation by sympathisers.

Late Popoola was killed on December 24, 2012, around 6.30 a.m.

Popoola, owner and driver of a bus with registration number XL166 SMK, was allegedly beaten to death by seven LASTMA officials, including Adesanya Olatunde and Ogunride Oludele.

Though Adesanya Olatunde, has since been arrested, Oludele who was said to be off- duty at the time of the incident, is still at large.

Speaking at the burial ceremony, the first son of the late danfo driver, Ibunkunoluwa Popoola, said since the incident, the family had not received emissary, call or condolence from Lagos State government or its agencies.

According to him, "I feel very bad and I describe the incident as ungodly. If the governor is very busy and can't come, he would have at least, sent somebody to come and pay us a condolence visit, to show my father last respects. I feel very disappointed and I feel disgraced as a Nigerian."
