Zimbabwe: Youth Employment Creation a Priority - Kasukuwere

Government is committed to creating employment opportunities for youths, Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere has said. He said Government would also facilitate the youth participation of youth in the mainstream economy.

Speaking at the handover of field office equipment by the International Labour Organisation yesterday, Minister Kasukuwere said youth empowerment was one of the major challenges facing the economy.

The equipment, worth more than US$350 000, is part of the Skills for Youth Empowerment and Rural Development Initiative.

The programme is aimed at promoting youth development.

"The current economic situation prevailing in the country where companies are closing on a daily basis or cutting on production and employment levels requires a concerted effort from both the Government and development partners," he said.

The equipment included 33 computers, 10 motorbikes, an eight tonne truck and 300 tool kits.
