Luanda — The Cape Verdean community based in Angola has been exhorted to get organised to support their national team that will be making their first appearance at an Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) On January 19, in group A match against host South Africa.

Speaking to Angop in Luanda, ambassador Domingos Mascarenhas said about 18,000 Cape Verdeans are registered with the consular section of the embassy.

He said many Cape Verdeans will travel to the venue for the competition to support their national team that come in group A together with Angola, South Africa and Morocco.

According to him, his fellow-countrymen around the world will support their national team both from the spot and their countries of residence.

He admitted that the number of supporters travelling to South Africa might not match the level of the competition, but will manage to transmit the warmth the Blue Sharks need on the pitch. To him, Cape Verde may surprise.
