ZOEBU Hakimjee recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over his Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) compatriot Suril Shah, to book his place in the second round of the Cargostars Dar Snooker Open tournament.
In the game played on Friday evening at the DGC, the winner pulled his experience from the store to record a straight frames victory. However, it was a tough game as the duo knows each other well. In fact, they play regularly at the club, but it was a lucky day for Hakimjee as everything went right to his side.
In another match of the day, the host Manish Thakkar showed an excellent skills to overcome a challenge from Amir Hassanali of Annadil Burhani to win by 2-0 straight-forward frames. Muslim Abdallah of DGC also went through to the second round without hitting a ball, after his opponent failed to show up on Friday's scheduled first round match.
The win for Thakkar ensured the host dominated the tournament since it started on Thursday. Other DGC players who progressed to the second round of the three week-long event sponsored by Cargostars Ltd are Captain Firoz Yusufali, Arjun Lavingia and Ali Gulamali. The tournament entered recess yesterday and today, but will resume tomorrow.
