Egypt: Azhar Imam - Al-Quds Is Sacred Muslim, Christian Site

Al-Azhar Imam Dr. Ahmed al-Tayyib said Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) is not only an occupied land but it is a Muslim and Christian holy place, warning of the vicious Israeli "settlement offensive" against East Jerusalem.

Tayyib, after meeting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, urged all education ministries in the Arab and Muslim countries to prepare special curriculum outlining the holy status and the great value of Al-Quds across all ages to bring up a generation capable of defending this holy site.

Tayyib, at the same time, urged the Palestinian factions to join hands against the Zionist enemy that is trying to get Palestinians out of their lands.

Tayyib said Abbas briefed him on efforts to accelerate the Palestinian national reconciliation.
