Egypt: Qandil Says Government, HEC Cooperate to Prepare for Parliamentary Elections

Prime Minister Hisham Qandil said that the government and the Higher Elections Commission will work together to prepare for the coming parliamentary elections so that Egyptians can cast their votes freely, easily and comfortably.

In statements on the sidelines of the inauguration of El-Maadi water station on Thursday 10/01/2013, Qandil said that talks have been launched with Qatar to invest $18 billion in Egypt.

"An Egyptian delegation visited Qatar and a Qatari delegation will come here for talks to start pumping the investments into Egypt," Qandil added.

The premier said that negotiations are under way with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a loan worth $4.8 billion.

"The loan is a certificate that Egypt's economy is recovering," Qandil added.

He asserted that there is a number of promising investment plans in the Suez Canal area which are estimated to be worth $100 billion.
