Tunisia: Ben Guerdane Set for General Strike

The Regional Labour Union (URT) in Tunisia's Ben Guerdane region called a general strike for Thursday (January 10th), Tunisie Numerique reported. The action will include all public services except for hospitals, pharmacies and bakeries.
Union members are demanding employment opportunities and economic development of the region.
The strike follows large-scale protests over the weekend by merchants in the region.
