Tunis — Spokesman for Wafa movement Slim Boukhdhir said that the party's Secretary General Abderraouf Ayadi had conferred on Thursday evening with Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali who has "officially" invited him to join the interim government without specifying for which portfolio.
In a statement to TAP news agency, Mr. Boukhdhir said Friday that his party was endeavouring to define "a common approach likely to fulfill the Revolution objectives, notably in matters of accountability," stressing that the change should target policies and programmes not people and that accepting a ministerial portfolio depends on this issue.
Mr. Slim Boukhdhir also noted that both sides had agreed to carry on consultations in the coming days, adding that his party is open to dialogue with all parties except for Nidaa Tounes (Tunisia's call) which, he said, "we believe is illegal in spite of its visa, since it represents the extension of the dissolved RCD."
