Namibia: Six Injured in Car Crash At Walvis Bay

SIX people were injured in a collision outside Walvis Bay on Saturday evening.

Initial reports were that there may have been fatalities because some passers-by said that people were "definitely dead" and "lying all over the shoulder of the road".

Other witnesses said two bakkies, were involved, and that many of the injured were sitting on the load-bed of the bakkie and were flung off.

But sources at the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund yesterday informed The Namibian that none of the six occupants of the two vehicles were killed.

Paramedics said the six injured were taken to the Walvis Bay State Hospital, but one, whose injuries were serious, had to be flown to Windhoek later that night.

Police sources said the cause of the collision is being investigated.
