Talks held earlier Thursday between the Egyptian and Iranian foreign ministers Mohamed Kamel Amr and Ali Akbar Salehi, respectively, focused on the situation in Syria and means to resolve the Syrian crisis.
During the talks, Amr reiterated Egypt's keenness to hold contacts with all involved and active parties in Syria to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people, echoed by the opposition, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Nazeh el-Naggari.
The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Cairo on Wednesday as part of a regional tour.
Meanwhile, Amr had a phone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on the Syrian and Palestinian developments as well as reforming the United Nations.
