Egypt: Sisi - Egyptians-Army Ties Are Everlasting, Will Never Be Disturbed

Defense Minister Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi said that the role of the Armed Forces in securing a referendum on Egypt's constitution initiated a new history for the relation between Egyptians and the army.

"The relation between the Army and people is everlasting and will not be disturbed by an enemy or conspirator," el-Sisi said during his meeting with leaders and army officers of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.

"The strong ties have been emphasized ever since the army handed over power to a civilian president," el-Sisi said, adding that the relation became so evident when the people went to polling stations to take part in the public vote on the new constitution as they were sure that they are safe in the presence of the army in the streets.

El-Sisi thanked the army men for their role during the transitional period, saying that the history will not forget their noble role.
