Libya: Italian Diplomat Attacked in Benghazi

Italian Consul-General Guido de Sanctis survived an armed attack in Benghazi on Saturday (January 12th), Libya Herald reported.

Unknown gunners shot at the consul's armoured car outside the Tibesti hotel. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

US ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other US officials died in the September attack on the US consulate in Benghazi. In June, a rocket-propelled grenade struck a convoy carrying the British Ambassador to Libya, wounding two bodyguards.
