Ilorin — Against the backdrop of the seeming opposition to an autonomous local government system, a university don has stressed the need for ample discussions on the desirability of local government autonomy in the country.

The proposed autonomy to the 774 local government councils in the country has been a subject of explosive debate in the ongoing constitutional amendment process.
