Last Friday, consultant physician Dr Joseph Amolo Aluoch put in a hard day before retiring to the Karen Country Club in Nairobi at the insistence of his spouse. His wife is Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch currently serving on the bench at the ICC courts in The Hague, Netherlands.

The good doctor arrived at the club and to his shock found a multitude of family and friends yelling out, "Happy 70th birthday dad!" Folks had flown in from around the world to attend this surprise party for one of Kenya's leading medical minds.

People who he had not met in decades mingled together at this special occasion with Orutu Kenge Kenge playing in the background.

The evening started off with cocktails before it went on to an elaborate dinner. They had a slideshow, showing the evolution of Dr Alouch from a boy to the respected man that he is today.

There were many speeches at the event from his friends including former Kenya Airways Chairman Omollo Okoro and psychologist Dr Frank Njenga.

The Star wishes the good doctor many more years on earth. Happy birthday sir.
