The volleyball junior national men team is set to start training ahead of the upcoming CAVB African Championships which will be held from February 28 to March 9in Tunisia.
Rwanda Volleyball Federation Secretary General Gertrude Kubwimana told this newspaper that the team will start the training next weekend. The team will be under Kenyan coach Paul Bitok.
According to the official, the team will be training only on weekends for two weeks, because all the players are students, before entering residential camp.
"They will not be in residential camp for the start because most of them are students, who also need to attend classes during week days, so we need to maximise Friday, Saturday and Sunday," she told Times Sport on Monday.
Some of the key players on the team include; Fred Musoni, Aimable Mutuyimana, Barrack Rugira (APR Volleyball club, Bonnie Mutabazi (NUR), Fred Muvunyi Rufu, Ivan Nsabimana Mahoro, Nelson Murangwa and Yves Mutabazi (Groupe Scoraile de Butare).
In 2010, Rwanda finished fourth behind Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco. However, Morocco withdrew from this year's competition, thereby taking up the Rwanda spot.
