Rwanda: Three Win Scholarship to Kigali Music School

Three children, David Straton Biza, Etienne Byiringiro and Jodam Uwiringiyimana, will study free of charge at the Kigali Music School after winning this year's 'Talentum: Young Talent Search'.

The three beat 24 other children who took part in the competition, which took place at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday.

"I am happy that I will be joining other children at the music school. It is something that I was always wishing for," said a tearful Biza.

"This is a great deal; I have many songs but for some time I have not been able to record them since I lack finances," said Byiringiro, another winner.

Talentum; Young Talent Search aims to identify and promote young musicians through building their capacity.

Speaking to The New Times, Gaston 'Skizzy' Rurangwa, one of the event organisers, called on young and upcoming musicians to join the competition.

"Our target is to make sure that we help young talent contribute to the growth and development of the music industry in Rwanda," he said.
