Cidade DA Praia — The president of São Tomé and Príncipe, Manuel Pinto da Costa, Sunday received in audience Maria Eugénia Neto, the widow of the first and late Angolan head of State, António Agostinho Neto.
At the meeting, the two reviewed the history of the two peoples and countries who share a common past.
On her private visit to the archipelago, Maria Eugénia Neto said that she seized the occasion to see president Pinto da Costa whom she considers a friend since the time of the liberation struggle.
At the end of the meeting, the guest recalled that she stopped over on the island in 1960 while on her way to Portugal, at the time president Agostinho Neto was in jail.
In São Tomé for a week now, Maria Eugénia Neto visited On Thursday, Agostinho Neto Farm, a tribute by São Tome's people to the figure of the first president of Angola.
On Saturday, Eugénia Neto attended a lunch hosted by the members of the Association of Residents of Agostinho Neto Farm.
