Tunisia: President Marzouki Confers With Mahmoud Abbas

Carthage — Caretaker President of the Republic Moncef Marzouki reasserted at the end of his talk, Monday, with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the Tunisian people's support to the Palestinian cause.

President Marzouki voiced hope to see "the Arabs support the Palestinian cause especially in this critical stage."

For his part, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas commended the Tunisian people who celebrate the second anniversary of the Revolution, voicing consideration for Tunisia's permanent support to the Palestinian cause.

The United Nations upgraded Palestine to Non-Member Observer State Status, Mr. Abbas reminded, "which will help it set its borders and reassert that the lands occupied in 1967 are Palestinian lands," emphasising that "the present and the coming colonies are totally illegal."

Besides, Mr. Abbas underlined the attachments of all the Palestinian factions to national unity, voicing hope to see the divisions between the Palestinians disappear soon.
