Tunisia: NCA Presidency Condemns Attack of Sidi Bou SAïd Mausoleum

Bardo — The Presidency of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) "strongly condemned", on Monday, "the criminal act" which targeted the Sidi Bou Saïd mausoleum "a historical, cultural and religious monument".

The NCA presidency invites, in a statement, the police and judiciary authorities to "prosecute the authors of this criminal act" and attribute to the Interior, Culture and Religious Affairs Ministries "the responsibilities to protect the mausoleums and other sites and historical and religious monuments."

The statement adds: "such criminal acts affect Tunisia's deep historical and civilisational heritage and its vocation of land of tolerance and dialogue".

The Sidi Bou Saïd mausoleum was torched, on Saturday evening, by unknown individuals.
