Gambia: KMC Win NAYCONF Basketball Tourney

Basse — The Kanifing Municipality male basketball team were crowned champions of the NaYCONF basketball trophy after defeating WCR in the finals of the competition played at Bansang Senior Secondary Basketball.

Speaking to Observer Sports shortly after the finals, the head coach of Kanifing Municipality said he was very happy lifting the trophy, adding that this was made possible through the support of their sports coordinator, Mariama Sallah, who has been very supportive to the team.

"The victory is therefore dedicated to Ms Sallah, and I also thank her for making things possible for them. If you are determined and committed, you always can achieve what you want. This was the case with my team. It was difficult to get this achievements, but with the help of Ms Sallah we are able to overcome all our difficulties," he further remarked, while also thanking his fans, players and the entire community of KM for their support during the competition.

For his part, the coach of WCR, Lamin Touray, said: "KM came all out to defeat us and that is what they have done. "We came here to win the basketball trophy as we promised our region, but unfortunately, we could not do it."
