Gambia: Two Senior Military Officers Dismissed

It has been disclosed that 2 senior officers attached to Defence Headquarters, were given their orders of dismissal from the force by the high command of GAF. The information added that both sackings were done one after the other.

The information revealed that Lieutenant Colonel Kawsu Sanyang, the Director of Policy and Planning, and Navy Captain Sambou Barrow, the Director of Training and Doctrine, of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), attached to Defence Headquarters, were both dismissed from the force.

The Spokesperson of GAF, Captain Lamin K. Sanyang, confirmed the dismissal of the former two top military officers and said their dismissals was not done at the same time. Captain Sanyang confirmed that Navy Captain Barrow was dismissed sometime in December 2012, whilst Lt. Colonel Sanyang was dismissed earlier. PRO Sanyang said he does not know the reasons for their dismissals.
