Gambia: Chimo United FC Claim Brikama League Title

Chimo United FC came from one nil down to beat Gidda Youths FC 4-1 to clinch the 2012 Brikama League title at the Brikama Mini Stadium on Saturday.

Gidda Youths opened the score through Momodou Camara, alias Toubab, in the 1st minute of the game from a stunning strike to give his side the lead, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for Gidda Youths.

Chimo United fought hard and levelled the score through Landing Darboe, alias Del Piero, in the 21st minute of the game to cancel out Momodou Camara's 1st minute strike.

Alagie Fatajo, alias Butut, netted the second goal for Chimo United in the 24th minute of the game after beating Gidda Youths offside trap. Chimo United therefore went to break with a 2-1 advantage.

Upon resumption of the second half, Chimo United picked up where they left off in the first half and dominated ball possession whilst creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

Landing Darboe, alias Del Piero, netted the third goal for Chimo United in the 75th minute of the game. Modou Suso's own goal in the dying minute of the game from Abdou Sula Bojang's cross made it 4-1 for Chimo United.

As champions, Chimo United received a trophy and a cash prize of D20,000 whilst Gidda Youths received D15,000 as runners-up.
