Liberia: More Updates On County Meet 2013

Following the preliminary rounds of the football and kickball categories of the 2012/2013 National County Sports Meet, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has released the quarterfinal fixtures of the games to be played on January 20th and 21st at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in Paynesville, Monrovia.

This year's meet, under the theme: 'Together, We Build A Healthy, Peaceful, Strong, Productive Tomorrow for Liberia', is sponsored by National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Lonestar Cell MTN, Liberia Coca Cola Bottling Company, Zoomlion Liberia and the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare. According to the pairings, Nimba will on Sunday 20th January, play Gbarpolu, while Maryland will go against Margibi, in kickball.

In football, Bong faces Montserrado and Grand Kru meets Margibi to close the day. On Monday, 21st January, Grand Bassa and Grand Gedeh will clash, while Grand Cape Mount battles Bong, in kickball. The quarter-final football matches come to an end with Grand Bassa going against Maryland, while Grand Cape Mount sorts things out with Nimba.

The Track & Field event begins on January 20, 2013 along with the quarter-finals of the football and kickball games of the competition. Meanwhile, the preliminary rounds of the volleyball and basketball versions of the tournament, which begun yesterday, January 14, 2013, will run up to the 19th of January with all the 15 counties of Liberia participating.

In today's volleyball matches, Maryland County will tackle River Gee County in Group-III Grand Kru takes on Grand Gedeh in the group's other match. Also in Group IV, Nimba and Bong Counties will come face to face in the day's last volleyball action. In the basketball version, Maryland meets River Gee, Grand Kru take on Grand Gedeh and Nimba sorts out things with Bong the last encounter of the day.

The National County Sports Meet, an annual sporting festival organized and hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aims to enhance reconciliation, unity and development amongst the citizens of Liberia.
