The Salvation Army International Organization on Monday, January14,2013 donated 15 sets of computers, books and survey materials to Liberia Salvation Army Organization for the sole purpose of empowering the young people to equip themselves and become useful in the society.
During the presentation of the equipment, the officer commanding or Head of Mission in Liberia, Lieutenant Colonel Festus Oloruntoba said the donation was intended to assist and buttress the effort of government and also equip the Salvation Army Schools in Liberia.
He stated further that the Salvation Army International Organization has been making great impact in Liberia, and will continue its commitment in terms of development, education to enable the young people acquire good skills for the future.
Oloruntoba asserted that there is a need to build Technical College in the country for the benefit of young people to attain AA Degrees and be marketable. He said the Organization wants to improve the lives of the young people in the country and according to him, the Organization has made many donations in the country and will make another donation in Lofa County for the needy young people there to be beneficiaries of the of the donation program.
Oloruntoba noted that since the 14-year civil war in the country, education has been more of a wild goose chase, therefore there must be a strong assistance for the empowerment of the young people to be very useful and contribute to national development as well.
The Project Officer of Salvation Army International Organization, Major William Mutangi said the school equipment were brought into the country for the benefit of the young people to learn to the best of their expectations and achieve good things that will help them solve their own problems in the future.
He urged them to take the training seriously and be committed to what they are learning. He stated further that the Organization has spent US$45,000 forty-five thousand United States dollars for those materials.
The Acting Program Coordinator of Liberia Salvation Army Organization, Kafi Pomyene has acknowledged his gratitude to Mr. Festus Oloruntoba for the great donation and that the equipment will be used for the intended purpose.
