One Lamin Sanyang and Pa Modou Jatta were on Monday arraigned before Magistrate Dayoh Small-Dago of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with the offence of shop breaking and theft, both contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
The particulars of the offence stated that the accused persons on the 19th December 2012 at Bakau, broke into the shop of one Bonna Deko and stole the following items: five gross of Bond cigarette, 15 bottles of banana milk, six bottles of power malt, 15 tins of sardine, D3, 000 worth of phone scratch cards of different denominations, and a cash amount of D3, 000. The total value of the stolen items amounted to D9, 245.00, all being the property of the said Bonna Deko, thereby committing an offence.
The accused persons all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of D15, 000 with one Gambian surety each.
The case was adjourned to the 21st January for hearing.
