Gambia: Assembly to Convene Extra-Ordinary Session On the EU Petition

Following the petition handed over to the National Assembly last Friday after a peaceful protest by Gambians in solidarity with the government against the European Union's Article 8 Political Dialogue, the National Assembly of The Gambia is set to convene an Extra-Ordinary Session on Monday 21st January 2013, to consider and approve the petition by the Gambian people on the EU's Article 8 Political Dialogue.

A media release from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly stated that the Assembly will convene to consider the motion 'Be it resolved that this August Assembly do consider and approve the petition by the Gambian people on the European Union's Article 8 Political Dialogue with the Gambia Government'.

The general public, the release went on, are invited to attend the sittings that will commence at 10:00am prompt.
