Rwanda: Kombi Billy Is New Rayon Assistant Coach

Six-time league champions, Rayon Sport have appointed former striker Mbusa Kombi Billy as the new assistant coach replacing Ali Bizimungu, who was sacked early this month.

According to the club Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, the assistant coach was appointed with the blessing of head coach Didier Gomez da Rosa.

"Billy will be the team's full time assistant coach.

We have agreed everything with him although he has not signed the contract (yet)," Gakwaya confirmed the appointment in a phone interview with Time Sport on Tuesday.

He noted, "He is a former player, who enjoyed his best years with Rayon Sport and he will be looking forward to possibly doing the same as (assistant) coach."

Kombe Billy played for Rayon Sport from 1993-1999 before he joined Les Citadet (AS Kigali).

Meanwhile, the club is looking to sign new players this month to boost their hopes of winning trophies this season.

"The coach has identified the key positions he needs to reinforce and the club is working nonstop behind the scenes to strengthen the team," the official stated.

In another development, Gakwaya revealed that the Nyanza-based club has fined striker Jerome Sina up to 1/3 of his salary due to indiscipline.
