Tunisia: Negotiations Between PM and Delegation of Ben Guerdane Postponed

Ben Guerdane — The negotiations scheduled for Tuesday between Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and a delegation of Ben Guerdane, have been postponed to next thursday.

The decision to hold this meeting has been taken after a wave of protests in the region last week claiming notably the right to development.

The negotiations have been postponed in view of difficulties to choose the members of the delegation, knowing that most residents in Ben Guerdane refuse the participation of political parties in these negotiations.

Efforts are now made to reach a consensus about the members of the delegation who will represent Ben Guerdane residents at this meeting, namely experts in matters of development and tradespeople.

The region claims focus on boosting projects on hold, developing free trade , fitting out the port of El Ketef, renovating the regional hospital and securing the free flow of passengers and goods through the border crossing of Ras Jedir.
