Nigeria: Power Failure Stalls Registration Exercise in Calabar

Epileptic power supply is threatening to hamper the national identity registration exercise being conducted by the National Identity Management Commission in Cross River state, the state coordinator, Sunday Ogbonna has cried out.

He called on the state government to assist the commission in area of power supply to facilitate ongoing National Identification Number project.

Briefing newsmen in Calabar, Ogbonna said "our major challenge is power generation and I use this medium to call on the state government to assist us to have special line in order to facilitate the ongoing NIN exercise."

He called on the public not to panic as the exercise was a continuous one, adding that the management had acquired mobile equipment to take care of those in the rural areas.
