Lagos — The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called on Northern leaders to emulate the virtues of late Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto, saying it is the only way to solve challenges in the north and the country in at large.
Speaking with our correspon-dent yesterday in Lagos on the 47th Anniversary of Sardauna's death, AYCF National President, Yerima Usman Shettima said things have never been the same for the North and Nigeria in general since the Sardauna era saying "corruption and injustice has eaten deep" into the Nigerian system, making life difficult for ordinary people.
He said Forbes' recent ranking of Nigeria as the 20th saddest place to live in the world is not surprising stressing that it stemmed from the level of corruption and injustice bedevilling the nation.
The National President added "during the time of Sardauna, there were never times when people fought on the basis of religion or ethnicity or the problem of embezzling public fund, what he preached then was progress, unity, peace and justice for all in the country."
