Tunisia: Nearly Six Million Foreigners Visited Nation in 2012, Says Interior Ministry

Tunis — Some 5 million and 950 795 foreigners have visited Tunisia in 2012. According to statistics released by the borders and foreigners department at the Interior Ministry, nearly 3 million and 597 617 visitors came to Tunisia by air, one million and 256 789 by land and 69 389 by sea.

Libyans are in the lead with one million and 887 740 people last year, ahead of Algerians with 901 674 visitors, reads an Interior Ministry communiqué published on Tuesday.

As to European visitors, they numbered 985 217 French, 411 828 Germans, 329 621 British, 250 732 Russians, 216 633 Italians, 168 532 Belgians and 109 554 Polish.

The African visitors numbered 39 478.

According to the same communiqué, cruises carrying 567 763 tourists as well as 1,460 yachts carrying 5,341 tourists berthed in Tunisian ports last year.
