Algeria: U.S. Embassy Hosts Booth At Algiers International Book Fair
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) hosted a booth on behalf of the U.S. Embassy Algiers at the 16th Annual Algiers International Book Fair, or Salon International du Livre d'Alger (SILA). SILA lasted from September 21 through October 1 and drew over 1 million visitors. PAS staff and volunteers talked to many of those visitors about the Embassy's new Information Resource Center, its American Corners, and EducationUSA. The Embassy's Education Advisor held impromptu advising sessions with hundreds of Algerian students eager to find out how to pursue their studies in the U.S. The Embassy also advertised its virtual presence, with laptops available for visitors to check out the Embassy's website and Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube pages right at the booth.
