RACE to replace the outgoing president of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), Leodegar Tenga, has gained momentum with three individuals declaring their interest.
Incumbent First Vice-President, Athumani Nyamlani, Chairman of the Kagera Region Football Association (KRFA), Jamal Malinzi and the Chairman of Kigoma Region Football Association, Omari Nkwaruko all picked forms yesterday, eying for the post of TFF president.
The chairman of the Mbeya Region Football Association (MRFA), Elias Mwanjala also picked form yesterday to contest for a post of Executive Committee member, representing Iringa and Mbeya zone.
TFF Information Officer, Boniface Wambura said yesterday that so far 30 individuals have collected forms vying for various posts at the February 24 election. He said Yanga Chairman - Yusuf Manji also picked the form yesterday to contest for the Chairman of the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPL Board).
Said Mohamed picked the forms on Tuesday to contest for the Vice-Chairman of the TPL Board. Tomorrow is the deadline for aspiring candidates to pick and return nomination forms. The forms are available on the TFF website (www.tff.or.tz) and aspiring candidates could fill them online and pay for the application form to the TFF account number 01J1019956700 CRDB, Holland House.
Application forms cost 500,000/- for president, 300,000/- (vice-president) and 200,000/- (executive committee members). Posts to be contested are those of President, Vice-President and 13 members of the Executive Committee.
According to the TFF Election Committee, applicants for president and vice president posts should be Tanzanians, holder of a bachelor's degree and not aged less than 25 years and neither should they be over 75 years of age.
