The Somali National Army (SNA) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have restored security to Mogadishu and regions under government control, AMISOM spokesman Colonel Ali Aden Hamud has said.
AMISOM and government forces have foiled many potential al-Shabaab attacks, Hamud told Somalia's Shabelle Media Network in an interview published Sunday (January 6th).
AMISOM continues to carry out daily security operations from its bases in southern and central Somalia.
Hamud's announcement comes after the SNA and AMISOM began regular night patrols this week to increase security in Mogadishu.
