The United Kingdom will host a conference for Somalia's stakeholders on May 7th, the office of Prime Minister David Cameron announced Friday (January 11th).
The London conference will present an opportunity for follow-up on issues raised at a similar conference held in London in February 2012, according to AFP.
"The prime minister also said that he would use the United Kingdom's presidency of the G8 this year to reinforce further support for the efforts of the Somali government to build a strong, prosperous and democratic country," the prime minister's office said.
Cameron's office said he spoke with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday about the retreat of al-Shabaab fighters and the president's priorities in restoring stability in Somalia.
