Somali Foreign Minister Fowsiyo Yusuf Haji Aadan met with British Foreign Secretary William Hague in London on Thursday (January 3rd) to discuss progress in Somalia.
"Somalia has made tangible progress in recent months, both politically following the end of the transitional period, and in improving security, with al-Shabaab pushed from major towns. It is critical that this momentum continues," Hague said in a press release.
Hague said that Aadan outlined the Somali government's plans to improve security, increase access to justice and foster transparent financial management, political reconciliation and economic development. "The United Kingdom is committed to working in partnership with the Somali government to support these priorities and to ensure coordinated international assistance," he said.
Aadan is expected to visit several other countries this week to document Somalia's financial assets in foreign banks.
Aadan said the meeting with Hague was "fruitful", according to her Twitter page.
