Somalia: Hiran Stakeholders Look to Enhance Security

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) officials, local elders and authorities from the Hiran regional administration gathered in Beledweyne for a joint meeting on enhancing security in the area, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported Tuesday (January 8th).

Head of AMISOM forces in the Hiran region Colonel Osman Doubad appealed to local elders to do their part in maintaining security and preventing illegal roadblocks in the region. Doubad emphasised the crucial role of elders in ensuring regional security, and pledged AMISOM support for their efforts.

Local elder Mohamed Abdi Rahul thanked Djiboutian troops under AMISOM in Beledweyne for their contribution to restoring security in the area.
