Somali Foreign Minister Fowsiyo Yusuf Haji Aadan met with Italian counterpart Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata in Rome on Monday (January 7th), UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
Aadan and Terzi discussed renewing agreements that were in place prior to the collapse of Somalia's central government two decades ago.
The two officials also discussed ways to strengthen ties between the two countries. Terzi said Italy would support Somalia's development of its judicial, security and development sectors. Italy will also train hundreds of Somali police officers in January, he said.
Aadan is on a tour of Europe where she is expected to document Somalia's financial assets in foreign banks. She met with British Foreign Secretary William Hague in London on January 3rd.
